Grassroots Drifting in Minnesota

Years ago, when I first got into drifting, we had two spots in the south Twin Cities metro area to go. We had Raceway Park in Shakopee (that closed in 2013), and Elko Speedway that has been around since 1965!

If you have been in the car scene for a while you might remember the NOS/MAP drift days they had at Elko in around 2009. After that, there was nothing beside some drift demos held at their big race nights.

Recently, Elko Speedway changed ownership and the new owner is excited about bringing drifting back at the track. They recently had a three day event followed by a Friday night practice session. So, naturally, I had to head out and see what it was all about!

I met up with some friends, got some rides with them, and then I decided I should hop in and do a few laps myself! It was a great time! It was super fun seeing old friends and hanging out like the "good old days" of drifting.
